James McGrath, CFA®, CPA, CFP®, CIMA®
Jim joined Cassady Schiller in September 2015 and brings over 30 years of experience in the wealth management and public accounting industries. Jim prides himself on using a holistic approach when working with clients. He uses his extensive investment, income tax, estate tax, and financial planning skills to help clients, and emphasizes a collaborative approach with outside advisors.
Jim and his wife relocated from New York in 1992 where he joined Ernst & Young’s tax department. During his time at Ernst & Young, Jim helped establish and grow the Personal Financial Counseling practice for the Ohio Valley region. In 2000, Jim left E&Y to focus on his investment and wealth management skills. Immediately before joining Cassady Schiller, Jim was a Principal and Portfolio Manager at Johnson Investment Counsel in Cincinnati, where he worked primarily with high and ultra-high net worth individuals.
In addition to his CPA designation, Jim holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation, the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation, and the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) designation. Jim has been named a Five Star Wealth Manager by Cincinnati Magazine numerous times.
Jim graduated from The State University of New York at Buffalo with his Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA), the CFA Institute, and the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA®). In addition, Jim was a former participant in the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program and a former board member for Madcap Puppets. Jim currently serves as a Northminster Presbyterian Church Elder.
